Acne

August 27th, 2009 by Center For Dermatology, Laser and Cosmetic Surgery

Adults and teens alike would prefer  to wake up on a beautiful summer day and see a clean, clear complexion reflected back in the mirror.  Walking around self consciously pretending no one will notice our acne or flaws it is not really a great option. The  good news is that there are many ways to prevent and treat common skin problems, including acne. At the Center for Dermatology, Laser and Cosmetic Surgery, we are able to treat and advise you.

There are some basic things to understand about acne, one is that it can occur at any age. It  is most common during puberty when hormones go into overdrive which then causes the skin to overproduce sebum. The heat and humidity we experience during the summer months are a factor; so are the many oil-producing glands we have. These glands are located mainly on the forehead, nose, and chin, and  are loaded with bacteria, which causes a greater resurfacing of acne.

Remember to get back to basics, be certain to wash  your face twice a day, and avoid touching your face.
